April Fool’s Day saw The Caves State School community gather to celebrate the 90th birthday of Mrs Jill Buch. Mrs Buch’s 90th birthday also marked 69 years since she commenced her teaching post at The Caves State School on her 21st birthday in 1946 and Mrs Buch has enjoyed a continuous association with The Caves State School ever since.
“Mrs Buch is an inspirational and active Patron of our school, held in great affection by our community”, said principal of The Caves State School, Sandra Porter. “We are delighted to share in her birthday celebrations”.
“Mrs Buch’s association with our school spans nearly seven decades, and this remarkable involvement has earned Mrs Buch the deserved title of living treasure,” said Miss Porter. “To have a number of families with three generations helping us to celebrate is a testament to the esteem in which Mrs Buch is held by our entire school community, past and present”.
The Caves State School community was delighted to welcome both Brittany Lauga, Member for Keppel, and Glenda Mather, Livingstone Shire Councillor, to share in the celebrations. “90 is a milestone birthday, and to reach such an age and still be contributing to a school community is extraordinary. We are fortunate to have Mrs Buch as our Patron”, said Miss Porter.
